To Whom This May Concern,

Hi, I’m Resham Pursani, Professional Dancer and Coach.

My career began in dance and it is something I am deeply passionate about. I believe that dance is a catalyst for transformation, a vehicle to freedom and an expression of one’s uniqueness. I have also found that dance has the potential to be a healing experience. Over the past few years, I have aspired to expand my craft to serve society and create a lasting impact. This has driven me to utilise movement and music to help people to connect with their authentic selves.

While I was doing my certification in Embodiment Coaching, one of the requirements was to attend a comedy improv class. I found Improv Hub online, signed up and fell in love Lindsay Drummond’s teaching style, attention to detail and overall cheerfulness! When Lindsay asked if I was interested in putting a collaborative performance together for International Women’s Day, it was an immediate “yes!”.

Now more than ever it is important for women all over the world to come together, to connect, to heal and of course to support each other’s growth. I am very much looking forward to working and creating with Anna and Lindsay for ‘She Will Rise’!

Best Regards,

To whom it may concern,

Hey there! I’m Anna Ong, founder of WYSH - What’s Your Story Huh, a consultancy based in Singapore that offers professional development courses and workshops using storytelling and improvisation. I’m also the creator of What’s Your Story Slam, a storytelling competition here in Singapore that promotes the power of personal narratives. I believe that the shortest distance between two people is a story and that everyone has a story to tell. I provide a platform for people to speak up and have their voices heard.

I found my way to storytelling through improvised theatre and over the pandemic in 2020, when the world went completely online, I met Lindsay Drummond through an online improv course hosted by the Nursery Theatre - London. We were a mixed bag, coming in from different parts of the world, different races, and religions. If there was an ad for diversity and inclusion, I think that would have been our improv group the Honey Spiders. Our friendship as a group (the Honey Spiders) went beyond the class and we started meeting up on a weekly basis online to learn from each other and attend various workshops together. We have learned from different improvisers and hired private coaches to train us.

In November 2020 Honey Spiders performed in one of my online storytelling shows as the halftime act and in March 2021 we performed at The Nursery Theatre’s online Garden Party show as the headline act. Lindsay and I teamed up and trained under Armando Diaz to perform as a duo. I enjoyed working with her and if I were to review all the other duo performances I have done, I think our scenes together flow the best.

Priorities changed and some of our friends moved on to different interests, Lindsay and I continued to stay in touch, work on our duo project ‘Slow Burn Duo’ and brainstormed on activities we could do. When this opportunity came up to create something for International Women’s Day, I immediately said “yes, and!” I could see the potential of coming in from various performing arts fields, improv, storytelling, music and dance.

I’m excited about the prospect of creating She Will Rise, and a workshop for creative expression with our body, voice and words.

Best Regards,
Anna Ong

Testimonials for Lindsay Drummond

Lindsay worked with me as dramaturg, co-creator and creative strategist on my 2021 project Bow Down to Your Queen- a musical homage to Stephen King’s strong female characters. I had written 6 original songs inspired by some of author Stephen King’s female characters. Apart from knowing I wanted to play and sing the songs I had no idea how my many ideas around the staging of this would become a show. I bless whatever force it was that brought Lindsay into my life as I believe I could not have successfully completed and staged the show without her input, energy and talents.

Lindsay is extremely capable, insightful, creative and easy to work with. She was easily able to decipher the themes of the show and helped me find creative ways to express the themes through different modes of performance. We had song, actors with monologues and audience members doing readings from King’s books.

Audience participation in the show was very important to me as I wanted the audience to feel immersed and with her background in improvised theatre Lindsay knew what it would take to get audience members to come up on stage and get involved. And it worked!

She also helped me to edit and streamline the show down to its most important parts which helped me a lot. I am also grateful for her unwavering belief in me and her encouragement to take on more of a leadership role when it came to my actors and players.
Lindsay is an organised, strong, compassionate leader and multi-talented and innovative artist. I would highly recommend her as part of any creative project. Especially one that needs passionate direction and creative solutions.

Lindsay acted as a digital consultant for Moreton Bay Libraries in July 2020 to transition some of our real-life workshops online. She was able to instruct the libraries on safe and effective ways to use the video conferencing platform Zoom for their workshops. Lindsay also ran our school holiday season of youth improvised theatre online workshops. I found her to be a very knowledgeable, fun, entertaining and energetic facilitator who gets along with anyone and everyone. I would highly recommend her as a workshop facilitator and digital workshop consultant.

I have done many online improvised theatre projects with Lindsay Drummond since April 2020. Lindsay is a great improviser and has a wonderful singing voice. Lindsay is the artistic director of my online improvised theatre troupe Honey Spiders and has successfully expanded the group’s improvisational repertoire to include musical improvisation. She has personally pushed me out of my comfort zone adding music to my improv.

We have had a very productive and satisfying year learning, playing and collaborating with each other online. Not only do we work well together in improv devising shows but we share a real appreciation of the philosophy and real-world applications of improvised theatre. We also have a mutual interest in Dramatic Impro an alternative to more traditional comedic improv.

Lindsay is one of the most talented, intelligent and good-hearted performers I have ever worked with. She is truly one of a kind.

I worked with Lindsay on two of her musical albums- More Than Enough and Songs of Affirmation as a Drummer and Percussionist. She is a masterful songwriter, amazing singer and driven and passionate band leader. Even in the recording process I felt confident that she understood musical concepts and composition on a deep level and had a good knowledge of rhythm, making it easy to communicate with her about what she wanted me to play on the albums. Lindsay is that rare blend of ‘down to earth’, funny, easy-going with a strong, assertive leadership style that makes people feel safe and inspired. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again.
